Christian Gilardi – musician, producer, and cultural curator

Musician, producer, and curator of cultural projects at Radiotelevisione Svizzera (RSI), Christian Gilardi has been working for many years to promote the world’s musical traditions and their links with contemporary culture.
He is the creator and presenter of the « Great Bazaar » radio program on Rete Due, a space dedicated to popular, ethnic, and experimental music, as well as the author of documentaries and audiovisual productions for RSI Cultura.

An instrumentalist—flutist and multi-instrumentalist—he is a founding member of the Panighiröl group, with which he explores the legends, sounds, and dialects of Ticino and the Lombardy Alps, integrating ethnomusicological research, composition, and performance.
His work combines listening, memory, and experimentation, with a particular focus on the dialogue between Mediterranean cultures and the relationships between voice, landscape, and identity.

Alongside his artistic work, Christian Gilardi develops and coordinates projects promoting intangible heritage, festivals, and international cultural cooperation initiatives at the intersection of music, storytelling, and sound anthropology.

Mediterranean music: one sea, a thousand shores

(Concept by Christian Gilardi for the Foundation)

This text expresses my way of seeing and feeling music.
It constitutes the founding vision of a larger project that the Foundation wishes to develop around listening, the encounter between cultures, and the transmission of musical heritage. It is a manifesto of thought and method: music as a place of union, as a universal language, as a living memory of dialogue between peoples.
